About this photo

A black and white seinen manga scene drawn from an extreme low angle: a lone spearman in a worn travelling coat stands in the lower third, spear across his back, as towering bamboo stalks converge toward a bright sky opening. Clean ink linework with varied weight, heavy contour lines in the foreground and thin lines in the distance, deep black fills and controlled screentone gradients hold the contrast.
