About this photo

A short, round bakery owner strides out with a wooden tray of baguettes, laughing toward the camera at dawn. Round face with full cheeks, freckles across the nose, a gap between her front teeth, curly copper-red hair pinned in a loose bun dusted with flour, a cream house dress under a striped apron and worn clogs.
